Welcome to Small Works Counseling.

I hope this email finds you somewhere safe enough to take a breath. I want to share a few updates from Small Works Counseling and some thoughts about what’s ahead but before that, let’s pause and check in.

If you’re anything like me, and like many of the folks I know, 2026 has been hard. A lot of us are tired, overwhelmed, and angry. And honestly? That makes sense. We should be.

Our concerns are real, even when we’re told we’re “overreacting” or expected to just push through. Living with elevated stress and cortisol for this long takes a toll not just emotionally, but physically too. Our bodies feel it. Our nervous systems feel it.

If things feel heavy right now, you’re not broken. You’re responding to a very real and ongoing strain. And you’re not alone in it.

Lean on community, safe friends and take a break if you can.
